Introduction:

Over the last few years we have carried out full measured surveys for various sites at the High Street in Sutton which is the local town of our Surrey office.

This case study presents a detailed account of a measured survey conducted for a site located at High Street, Sutton. The survey was a part of the high street regeneration program led by the London Borough of Sutton Council. The project holds significant importance for the local community as the vacant shops are being repurposed for new public venues. The laser scan data provided comprehensive coverage of the roof space, basements, and surrounding buildings, offering potential benefits for future planning initiatives.

Objectives:

The key objectives of the measured survey were as follows:

• Capture accurate floor plans and elevations of the former Topshop and Vision Express stores.
• Provide essential data for the redevelopment and repurposing of the vacant shops as new venues for public uses.
• Ensure the survey’s contribution to the high street regeneration program led by the London Borough of Sutton Council.
• Generate laser scan data with comprehensive coverage of the roof space, basements, and surrounding buildings for future planning initiatives.

Laser Scanning:

Laser scanning technology was used to conduct the measured survey. The laser scanners captured precise data, facilitating the creation of accurate floor plans and elevations. This advanced technology ensured a detailed and comprehensive representation of the buildings.
